About the Image(s)

On a recent trip to New York City, my husband and I went to the Dumbo area in Brooklyn--Down Under the Manhattan Bridge Overpass. There’s a great view of the bridge from way up the street. And when you get to the right spot, you can see the Empire State Building through the opening in the bridge. I did basic processing to the image in Lightroom.

Nice capture of the Empire State Building that is nicely framed by an opening in the bridge. Suggest cropping to eliminate the distraction at the bottom of the image. Or would that throw off the composition?   Posted: 08/13/2019 23:44:05

I did crop some, but wanted to keep a little at the bottom to show this was the view down a street. But I see your point. I could certainly crop to the trees, eliminating the people and the van.   Posted: 08/15/2019 16:24:05

If the framed Empire State bldg is the important point, then other distractions should be eliminated. People, vans, banners, etc., so cropping, cloning and a vignette could help:   Posted: 08/16/2019 00:34:20

I would have cropped to see more of the people and less of the bridge. Foreground, middle-ground, background.   Posted: 08/22/2019 12:10:29

There are two images that work out of this one. Good idea Dan.   Posted: 08/31/2019 13:29:43

This would be a cool shot at night.   Posted: 08/22/2019 15:07:21

Sure would! My husband and I are planning a trip back there around Christmas. There's also a great view of Manhattan nearby.   Posted: 08/22/2019 17:00:39

I'm fascinated by the angles in this composition, and agree that simplifying the foreground would be a good correction. Really interesting photo!!   Posted: 08/23/2019 11:00:53
