About the Image(s)
This is an image of a wood fungus, growing among litter on the ground. They are bright orange blobs with little texture and slowly grow and surround anything in their path. Bit like the original blob in the movie.
I cropped the image, used the clone tool and fill to get rid of the top leaves, converted the image to black and white using Nik Silver Efex and then brought pack some of the orange. I also brought back some green on the stem it was surrounding.
Technical: Olympus EM10, f/5.6; 1/160. ISO 200. Slightly overcast day.

I like the B&W treatment of the background. I might have tried blurring and darkening the background a little.

The title is very appropriate. I wonder if you could change the color of the fungus to red so it would look like the blob as shown in the movie. Might be fun to try. The background is too sharp as Dan pointed out.   Posted: 07/07/2017 00:11:31

Such a curiosity! You are very clever with those tools. The B&W was a good choice for the surrounding clutter/forest litter.. might you consider darkening the highlights in the B&W details and blurring those that are directly behind the blob?   Posted: 07/07/2017 07:14:47
I like how you processed this, with a blend of monochrome and some brought-back color. And the subject is intriguing. I agree with the suggestion to darken and blur the background.   Posted: 07/07/2017 09:42:45

I like that you picked up on my idea and ran with it. As I recall, the color is very accurate. I'm scared, very scared....
