About the Image(s)

Here is a swallowtail for you.

I really didn’t do anything other than crop out some of the ferns at the bottom.

Hand held with my canon D70 using my go-to Tamron telephoto lens.

I was tempted to crop him so that he just had his furry body and part of the wings but thought you might shoot me or report me to PETA. The amputation version is shown in Original 1.

Nice - I think the full version is better.   Posted: 07/06/2017 12:46:51

The detail on the swallowtail is fantastic. I prefer the full version too. Very nice work Arabella. I would have guessed that you used a tripod.   Posted: 07/07/2017 00:23:23

well i looked at my data behind the image and it says 1/640.. and there was no breeze... and it was a very lazy swallowtail... the hairs on his/her body are very cool. Nex time i promise i will drag out my tripod.   Posted: 07/07/2017 06:36:45

Great capture! And sharp in the places it needs to be. I also prefer the full version because the background at the bottom left is nicely blurred. The pattern of his wing is cool.   Posted: 07/07/2017 10:03:42

Great sharp image. Beautiful butterfly. I like the full version as it shows the great shape of his wings.   Posted: 07/11/2017 20:40:53

I'm in agreement with the rest of the group about the full version being far superior. I think the background could be a little more subtle to really pop the butterfly. Here's my take on it:   Posted: 07/16/2017 16:40:51

Nice photo. I think you focus on wings. A sharp focus on eye could make it more beer i guess.

Thank you everyone. I like the improved background much more. This is just too much fun.   Posted: 07/23/2017 19:14:42
