About the Image(s)

I wanted to see if I could tame the busy background in this image of a
Tri-colored Heron in beautiful breeding plumage. I honestly don't know if I
like the final result or not. I wanted to see what you guys thought, the
more critical the better. I didn't save all the layers from my processing
but I'm sure that I used a radial filter to darken the background and
somewhat desaturate it, doing the opposite on the heron. I've been running
Topaz to deal with the noise an import sharpening on pretty much all my
images. As I was exporting it for submission to the group it looked too
dark to me so I added some more exposure and texture to the bird and it's
immediate area with a feathered radial filter in a camera raw filter. I
also removed a bit of feather stuck to the front of the bill. Settings:
1/1000 second, f/6.3, 600mm, ISO 1600, Sony a9ii, Sony 200-600 lens.
Handheld.

I like everything about this. The eye draws me to the photo immediately. The feathers are sharp, and the blue is beautiful. Your background green treatment is especially nice. I looked several times to be sure, and the only suggestion I have is to remove a bright white spot on the second from right feather. There are some nice feather strands under the spot.   Posted: 08/04/2020 11:42:21

I didn't notice that white spot but now that you pointed it out I can't help but see it. I appreciate it.   Posted: 08/04/2020 12:38:49
