About the Image(s)

I was finally able to get out an explore a new road near Mt Rainier National Park (which is still closed) that I have wanted to explore for a long time. It was a beautiful sunny and warm day so the light conditions were not good for shooting the waterfalls and larger expanses of the river. I am reminding myself more and more to look for the detail within a scene so I started shooting the water flowing around the river rocks. There were also a lot of nice reflections on the river from the surrounding trees, mostly Douglas Fir. I was shooting with my Sony 7RMIII with a Sony 70-300mm lens. ISO 50, 1sec exposure at f/11, manual exposure. Post processing was in ON1 2020, cropped, some dynamic contrast on the rock, a little color enhancement and a vignette.

Strong post processing. You brought out more detail in the rock and water. I see the green water in the left top corner take me diagonally over the rock and beyond. The flow is interesting.   Posted: 06/02/2020 07:54:20

I love the flowing water and the colors are wonderful. Green, orange and blue go well together. I don't have any suggestions. If you have any wider shots I think I would process both wide and tight and see which I liked better.   Posted: 06/02/2020 10:32:15

In my opinion this is a very restful image. I like the softness of the water and the color palette is pleasing to my eye. I'll bet you were able to make a lot of different compositions in this place. I am interested in your choice to put dynamic contrast only on the rock and mask it out on the water; I assume applying it to the water would have interfered with that soft look. I may not have tough to do that, but will keep it in mind for the future.   Posted: 06/14/2020 11:19:14

Very interesting image. The colors and patterns in the water are wonderful. The rock gave me pause at first glance. It might have been an animal diving, or a head emerging. What is the brown "ledge" to the left of the rock? I might try a horizontal flip and eliminate the vignette.   Posted: 06/14/2020 19:56:45

Like your choice of focusing on detail. The center rock has great detail in the moss on it and the wetness of the river. I like the smooth flow around the rock but I find the brown rock on the left a little distracting. Wish there had been more flow over it to make it less prominent. Well done.   Posted: 06/19/2020 11:30:10
