About the Image(s)

On my way this morning I was headed to do some hiking at Usery Mountain Regional Park, Mesa, AZ. While approaching the park, I noticed the bright orange/red sky. Entering the park I was stuck waiting in a unusably long line to enter. Based on experience I knew the colors would not last long. Fortunately the line moved just far enough for me to capture this image from my stopped car. I used Retouch to remove the bright reflection and finished up with Snapseed by using Tools: ambiance to lighten the lower portion of the image, brightness to darken the sky, and slight saturation to increase the color. Within a couple minutes after taking this photo the bright colors were gone.

Wonderful Dave. iPhone in your pocket, jump out of the car and Capture one of your best. You have really developed a portfolio of cactus and beautiful skies. Jerry   Posted: 04/05/2021 14:15:09

Very nice capture. The colors in the clouds are lovely. The large saguaro adds scale and context. In this situation, timing is everything and you managed it well.

The spill of color from the sky to the foreground produces an overall warmth that is really special. Great capture.   Posted: 04/10/2021 09:00:38
