Out for a Walk in the Park by Jerry Hug, APSA

April 2021 - Out for a Walk in the Park

About the Image(s)

Out for a walk in the Park on a very windy day. It was blowing so hard that I took off my baseball hat and put it under my jacket while I shot the photo. I used Slow Camera Shutter app set to 8 seconds. During the 8 seconds I held the camera still for about 2 sec. and then moved up and down. Edited in Snapseed to Bring out the colors, Added a slight texture with DistressedFX+, back to Snapseed for a little more tune-up and then used SuperimposeX to add my signature. Hope you like “A Windy Day”. Comments are welcome.

Definitely presents a windy day. It reminds me of a pinhole camera photo taken by a local photographer on a windy day but, of course, her technique used a stationary camera and a long shutter. Nice capture. Good colors.

I like this image and its "feel." How about making it into a jigsaw puzzle since nearly everyone is doing them during the pandemic? It would make for a lovely challenge.   Posted: 04/10/2021 09:05:04

It's purely abstract to me and pleasing as such. Near monochromatic. It would look good in a frame on a wall.   Posted: 04/10/2021 13:39:07

A very creative image. You are inspiring me to do more with the Slow Shutter app. Even though it is abstract I can still distinguish the trees and maybe flowers in the foreground. This would look nice framed or as a background on your computer. Beautifully done.   Posted: 04/11/2021 15:36:08

First of all I absolutely adore this abstract slow motion photograph but how do you turn a video into photograph? I went outdoors and did the time element slow motion video you described but how do I go from that capture to a blended photograph like you produced? It's really a sensational capture.   Posted: 04/11/2021 16:20:25

Actually Slow Shutter app is not a video. It is just a long shutter application. My settings were Motion Blur - Blur Strength Maximum - Shutter Speed 8 seconds - ISO Auto.

You can use a shorter shutter speed and move the camera around faster, or just play around with different combinations until you get combination that you like.   Posted: 04/14/2021 08:44:46
