Hay Bales by Dave Edwards

October 2020 - Hay Bales

About the Image(s)

It took several early morning bike rides to finally get to this site in time to capture this image. Minor touch up with Snapseed.

So nice to see that your getting up and out riding that early in the morning to catch the sunrise. Was this very far from your home? I like the true colors and the calm and peaceful scene. I have to drive miles to find a scene that your captured. I missed going up to Door County this year to be at The Clearing Folk School. It was closed down due to the Virus. We sold our condo on Lake Wawasee in Indiana and I will miss that rural community also. We were not feeling safe in the community. Slo many folks did not think that the virus was that bad and did not wear mask and social distance.   Posted: 10/04/2020 06:00:21

Hi Jerry, I was about 4 miles to this scene. I did have lights on the bicycle, but couldn't leave too early. Yes, I pushed it.   Posted: 10/05/2020 09:35:36

The lush green against the brown hay makes a nice contrast. Looks like you had more rain tan we have had in central PA.
The straight lines of the telephone poles tells the viewer that the field slopes. Nice idea to keep them in.   Posted: 10/04/2020 18:56:35

Thanks Rich, I decided to use the telephone poles as the horizon guide. Yes, the ground was sloping to the left.   Posted: 10/05/2020 09:38:33

A very pastoral peaceful scene. Kudos to you for getting up before daylight and riding a bike to capture the image at sunrise. Nice to see good old fashion hay bales not wrapped in plastic like marshmallows.   Posted: 10/11/2020 10:42:12

Love this scene and it makes getting up early for bike ride extra special. The sun peaking over the field dotted with circular hay bales is perfection. Great composition and color.   Posted: 10/13/2020 08:30:14

Really nice pastoral scene. I like the saturation of the greens which adds richness. There are close, middle, and distant elements which indicate depth and distance. Nicely done. It was worth going out early for a shot like this.

Hay bales are favorites of mine and I like this one too. The bales on the left nicely balance the bright sun on the right   Posted: 10/22/2020 15:18:18
