About the Image(s)

This Saguaro Dessert photo was taken inside a shelter constructed by the Civilian Conservation Corp. The CCC built the shelter in the late 1930's. I had been hiking and the shelter served as a nice place to rest where shade was scarce. Even though the sun had raised significantly, it still made for an interesting image. Minor changes were made in Snapseed including enhancing the colors.

Love this image Dave. Looking out of open windows with a great view. The close up rocks are sharp and the view through the opening is wonderful. The starburst catch light is fitting. How did you add the catch light or was it just there? Great image. This is a keeper. Jerry   Posted: 08/02/2020 08:21:48

Thanks for the comments and good eye on the starburst. I wasn't sure if I enhanced the flare from the sun. With a closer look it appears as if I did. I am usually very careful with the starburst because to me, they can look kind of fake. Thanks again!   Posted: 08/04/2020 14:18:27

This is really nice image and reminder of what the CCC did. I love the colors in the stone and the foreground. Would getting the sky a bit deeper blue, like the little patch in the upper right edge give just a bit more pop, or would that be overkill?   Posted: 08/04/2020 09:28:26

Good image. Sort of "window on the world" feeling. I like the textures in the rocks and in the terrain. Lovely vista. The sun's position adds interest, too. Must have been a nice hike.

Creative how you used natural rock window to frame spectacular landscape. The starburst gives dynamic quality to photograph. Good detail on rock window frame. Well thought out and executed photograph.   Posted: 08/10/2020 07:04:42

There is so much to love about this image. I love that you used the window to the world to frame the landscape beyond. The starburst just gives it that little extra to make it an excellent image. Great DOF. The only thing I would suggest is to either clone or crop out the little patch of sky in the upper right corner. The CCC did so much for this country while putting men back to work. Maybe it should be revived.   Posted: 08/11/2020 16:20:58

That starburst changes the image from ordinary to special. Good for you for seeing it.Perhaps the sky could be darker?   Posted: 08/11/2020 18:40:49
