Trinity College Library by Dave Edwards

December 2019 - Trinity College Library

About the Image(s)

While in Dublin, Ireland we had the opportunity to visit the Trinity College Library. Quite a spectacle. What looks like walls are actually book shelves. Lighting made this image quite easy, only minor cropping was done.

Great lines pull you in. Then peripheral vision registers the "walls" of books, then back to the structure of the lines. Lots to see and think about. Nice job.   Posted: 12/11/2019 10:21:55

Yes. very seldom you can get super lighting on an indoor shot. Did you use any HDR? The only hot spot is the bottom right corner and it really does not bother me. Great shadow detail. Jerry   Posted: 12/12/2019 08:30:48

What a great opportunity. I love all the leading lines in the architecture. There are a few hot spots but cropping the ones on the left and right would take too much away from the image. As Jerry asked; did you use HDR?   Posted: 12/14/2019 23:59:50

Thanks for the comments. Image was from straight out of the camera. Lighting inside was very good.   Posted: 12/15/2019 06:18:22

Nice image that indicates the age and importance of this library. I like the colors and the woodwork details. Nice capture.

Side note: I must assume you saw the Book of Kells while you were there. An amazing volume and history.   Posted: 12/15/2019 11:41:30

Wow photograph on two levels: Avid reader and photographer. Your composition beautifully tells the story of the architecture of the Trinity College Library and all those rows upon rows of magnificent books. Wonder if lighting from well placed indoor lights or big windows.   Posted: 12/15/2019 16:50:21

What great impact this has. The lines, the colors and tonal range all work to make a great shot. That you could keep some detail in the ceiling and book shelves speaks well to the ability,of the camera.   Posted: 12/18/2019 08:57:11
