About the Image(s)

Shot on my Fujifilm X-T10, 1/400 sec at f/7.1 24 mm focal length. ISO 1600. I was on a walk with a friend (not a photographer) so didn't have a lot of time to set up, check settings, etc. I have included my original original right out of the camera as evidence of this (not a great capture!). However, as I am a bit fan of post-processing, I think (hope) I managed to salvage the colour version (with some vertical transformation, rotation and cropping and a bit of an increase in the shadow areas) in Lightroom. I then took the BW conversion (in LR) into Nik Silver Efex Pro, giving it a Full Spectrum preset with some minor adjustments. Back in LR, I darkened the exposure in the centre just a bit and added a slight vignette.

Nice shot. You start looking at the bikes (3 groups, nice) and then it just leads you through to the back wanting to know what is beyond. Love detail in road. Maybe add a vignette add a little more contrast.   Posted: 03/15/2023 09:02:08

Hello Lorna, just visiting from Group 31, I would recommend you stay with the essence of the original image where you saw and captured the light entering the street. It has a potential to be developed with more light. I took the original small jpeg and tried to demonstrate what I mean.   Posted: 03/15/2023 11:53:36

You might want to try darkening the sky and then looking at it again. I like the detail of the bikes and buildings (scrub trees/bushes not so much but can't pretrim before shooting). Have you tried a view cropping?   Posted: 03/17/2023 13:18:31

Lorna, I just love old European streets like this. The brick/cobble stone road leads right into the scene and the bicycles give it a very nice feel. I agree that the light coming in can make it more dramatic such as in Nick's edit but I also like your version. Maybe just add a bit of contrast to yours. I like the scene...makes me want to walk into it and see what is around the corner!   Posted: 03/17/2023 17:27:34

Great capture IMHO. Always a lot of interesting things in these streets. I like your camera. Cloudy skies are always hard to deal with. Here is my version which is cropped to 5x7. Good eye.   Posted: 03/19/2023 17:39:04
