About the Image(s)

Image created on a cloudy day in Colorado. I was working on making a picture with the theme of tires. I thought this one fit because it has tires being preserved with white cover and tires stored in the open. It is not fine art. ha. Fujifilm XPro2, 23mm lens, ISO 1250, 1/400, f/10, automatic exposure +.7 EV. Processed in Luminar AI.

Hey Chuck. I like the grittiness of your image. Very industrial. Lots of detail and excellent focus from foreground all the way to the mountains. In this case, the sharp background adds interest and context. Could you show us the original?   Posted: 02/06/2021 09:52:00

I like the grittiness of the image and the basic idea, I think you need to crop down a little bit, some from the bottom, and the addition to the trailer is not relevant to the main image. So I cropped it and this would make more sense to me.   Posted: 02/15/2021 10:43:18

I thought about this image during the weekend and wanted to add a second version, I also thought that you have too much depth of field, so I isolated the trailer and blurred the background, I didn't do a great job with it but it gives you a basic idea. Just something to think about.   Posted: 02/15/2021 10:45:22

Technically, very well done. Great focus and clarity and the white tire covers are handled well. It fits your theme of tires well. My only suggestion is to crop up from the bottom like Jeffrey did.   Posted: 02/15/2021 11:34:17

Thanks everyone for the great ideas and comments. I do like your ideas to make this picture better. One thing I liked when I made this picture is the white tire covers. I thought it added the necessary contrast and subject matter.   Posted: 02/15/2021 11:42:22

Sorry for the late review. Tough subject. The last attempts I made on featuring tires one weekend included a tire changing tent at a race (road america) where the tent color added focus, race car tires (slicks) after the race that lost a lot of tread and some stacks of tires outside the pits. With that in mind I like Jeff's suggestion to do some cropping and blurring to minimize the equipment and background detail. The bright white tire covers do provide a nice contrast to the tires on the trailer.   Posted: 02/20/2021 16:43:34

Another intriguing capture. I agree with Jeffrey's and Cindy's ideas, cropping some off the bottom. I also really like Jeffrey's version with the blurred background best, as it isolates and highlights the main subject, the trailer (and tires).   Posted: 02/26/2021 22:28:18
