About the Image(s)

Comment: The birch trees in the background distract my eye. Ideas on toning down other than the vignette I did. Also the "new" red metal primer does do well in mono conversion and an old rusted engine would help.

Any ideas? I'm thinking a color might do better in PSA in a US competition. Maybe change the color? (Europe has a lot of old distinct picturesque opportunities

I love old rusty trucks and cars. You have a great subject here and I like it as a monochrome image, however, I think it may be a bit too bright. I couldn't resist playing with it and I lowered the exposure, added a little detail and contrast and then added a texture overlay to give it more of a nostalgic look. I think you could play with this a bit and turn it into a winner.   Posted: 11/07/2020 09:11:04

Cindy took the words right out of my mouth. In my eye the monochrome is best. You have made the red tonality just right knowing the control is possible with the whole range of dark to light. That, you could experiment with. For help, suggest making the vignette a little less dark and more feathered.   Posted: 11/07/2020 14:09:23

I also prefer the mono. I think Cindy's version is a little dark and I would go somewhere between hers and yours. I agree with Chuck that the vignette is a little strong.   Posted: 11/08/2020 06:20:26
