About the Image(s)

I took this (I think) up at the Porkies. I took the color version and put it into grayscale using Irfanview. Then I played around with it in Topaz Adjust AI, making it a tad lighter and adding contrast. I also sharpened it using Topaz Sharpen AI.

Good job. I feel you have maxed out the conversion to BW. It would be nice to see a little more detail in the water. I like the compostion and contrast.   Posted: 03/13/2020 19:38:16

This is an interesting rock formation which makes a nice "frame within a frame". You have great details on the rock and the darkness of the trees separate them nicely from the rock. I think it would have more interest if there was somethin in the oval frame of the arch - a boat or bird.   Posted: 03/18/2020 17:01:48

Funny - Cindy's comment about capturing something in the oval "frame" was one I was going to make. I like the monochrome with its interesting composition and strong textures but actually prefer the colour version of this one, Paul. The monochrome version emphasizes the structure - rock and trees - but I like the way the green of the trees "merges" into the soft aquamarine of the lake in the colour image.   Posted: 03/20/2020 22:05:49

I prefer the color but like both. I agree with the others that an eye attracting object might really add to the shot but the trick will be to keep it in scale and not overpowering. Why not try checking out some possiblities from visit to the Milwaukee Gun Club (sailboats, motorboats and gulls) before going back to Porkies to retake. However the retake on a windy day might get some interesting waves.   Posted: 03/21/2020 11:51:22

I like the monochrome one, nice texture and detail. It would be a plus if there was something in the middle, but it is an interesting shot.   Posted: 03/21/2020 20:48:53

I agree something in the middle would have been nice, but that's the way it was when I took the picture, and I am lousy in masking...   Posted: 03/21/2020 22:08:26

I prefer the colour version but I agree with the others about something in the middle. Currently you may not be good with masking. But over the next few weeks, if you are isolating from the virus, who knows.   Posted: 03/24/2020 13:18:15
