About the Image(s)

This was taken at the Central Library in St. Louis, MO shortly after it was remodeled. There is lots of marble which makes for good reflections. I was lucky enough to have a man walking in just the right spot when I snapped this photo, which I think “makes” the shot. There were, however, several posters advertising an exhibition and I cloned them out (successfully, I hope!). Settings: f/8, 1/100 sec., ISO 500 and 18 mm focal length.

I find this image very a interesting and as you say the man makes the shot -not only him but his shadow, I think the image could do well in competitions. However my eye is drawn to the ceiling and the light. You could consider toning these down.   Posted: 01/14/2020 11:45:16

Yes, Cindy, good timing to capture this guy just off centre in an otherwise symmetrical image. Posters? Good cloning! I like both versions, David's with the toned down ceiling works, but also I think yours with the lighter ceiling draws my eye (like leading lines) to the light framing the figure in the doorway in the distance.   Posted: 01/14/2020 23:40:25

This is a wonderful image. A touch of toning down the ceiling might be a plus. Otherwise to me this is A1   Posted: 01/18/2020 15:51:22

I wish I'd taken this shot. Beautiful all the way around.   Posted: 01/24/2020 21:40:44

I tried two things for your consideration. I tried darken the area above the column top (where valence lighting might be). That area liked a little too light. I also cropped to deleted the handrails. Just thoughts. Your version is great.   Posted: 01/26/2020 14:05:09
