Porch to Porch by Cindy Lynch

January 2018 - Porch to Porch

About the Image(s)

An HDR image taken in Martha’s Vineyard while walking among the “gingerbread” style houses there. Three exposures merged in Photomatix and then post processed in PhotoShop using Nik Color Efex and Silver Pro. Settings: f/9, 1/25, ISO 160 and 26 mm focal length. I wanted a different perspective and was taken with this view, however, I would like feedback on the interest level of this shot.

I like all stuff in the image, the rocking chairs, and all the rest. I would have liked to see a little wider version, more on the right side. I find it interesting, but my eye does wander the image.   Posted: 01/01/2018 22:04:05

Technically excellent (as always). However I think a wider version would have improved the image both on the left and right, we only see part of the first two chairs on the left. The image does lack a focal point.

Cindy, Terrific capture and perspective. The rocking chairs are the subject. In my opinion, the composition could not be better for the reason the eye starts at the second left chair, searches into the picture until it gets to the far right center window, then searches right back to the starting point. I never wanted to explore outside the borders. Contrast, sharpness and, tonality are spot on. A prize winner in my view. Its frame-able.   Posted: 01/11/2018 19:02:25

Only problem I have is sharpness of the adjacent porch. The foreground porch has simple bold elements. Then my eye crosses the railing and it gets busy.   Posted: 01/16/2018 15:03:34
