November 2020 - Stories of Life

About the Image(s)

This image was taken in 2019. I chose it because in this time of uncertainty life is a gift. Both young ladies were students at my College. They attended an industry event in Manhattan. The one smiling had graduated from both an undergraduate program and went on to graduate from an executive MBA program; she was gifted and about to launch a new book on her life but by November she was gone due to heart failure. The other young lady earlier had major surgery, was homeless with two sons and became the 2020 salutatorian for our College. One can never judge a book by its cover. Lightroom for BW editing with vignette.

OMG what a contrast in stories for these two ladies,
both clearly intelligent but one overcome by health problems the other overcoming adversity. A combination of tragedy and success that cannot be determined from the photo alone, This photo along with the story may become part of history in a newspaper or someone's scrapbook or family album as a lesson that life can take dramatic turns at any time. Nice submission JoAnne, thank you.   Posted: 11/10/2020 20:46:29

I find this to be a wonderful portrait and of course a bittersweet story. This is an image you should be proud of.   Posted: 11/29/2020 07:09:04
