Storytelling with “Eyes and Hands” by JoAnne Rolle

September 2020 - Storytelling with “Eyes and Hands”

About the Image(s)

I was in a Bangladesh village at the end of last year. It was an amazing experience. There were many new images, the landscape of the countryside, the beauty of the people and the difference in the culture. This image is a woman in the village - her eyes and hands intrigued me - to me it told the story of her being cautiously engaged ” eyes sharp ” hands clasped ” still yet astute. Image captured with Cannon T3i 200 lens - post processing in Lightroom for color contrast. Practicing working in Lightroom now that Aperture is no longer supported by Apple.

I like to concept and story this image presents. Also the colors of the individuals is pleasing to me and well as the background. From my perspective, the individuals are blurred, especially the left one.   Posted: 09/20/2020 06:37:11

Nice composition, blurred background so the subjects stand out, and I particularly like the eyes of the woman on the right looking at the woman on the left. As Fred pointed out, the subjects are blurred. Too slow shutter speed perhaps?   Posted: 09/21/2020 10:38:32

I agree with Fred and Alan's points. It seems the a slow shutter speed was used which caused small movements of the ladies clothing to be captured thus providing blur Also the background seems overexposed. Background blur is good so the f-stop used was good. I think the image might be improved by darkening the background a little. Adobe LR or PS could be used or probably several other software tools.   Posted: 09/21/2020 21:26:48

Interesting image, but as the others have said, somewhat blurred. Suggest if you have it, run it through Topaz Sharpen AI. That filter does wonders.   Posted: 09/24/2020 12:33:51
