A School in a village in Bangladesh by JoAnne Rolle

January 2020 - A School in a village in Bangladesh

About the Image(s)

I was visiting Bangladesh for a conference and the host offered a rare trip through the countryside to visit the village where he grew up. I shot many images; it was a challenge to pick one. I chose the image here because the warm faces of the women show the natural hospitality of the ;people and the images of the children show genuine curiosity of seeing strangers in their village at their school. The image was shot with a Cannon 500 lens and post editing in Lightroom for clarity and contrast.

I like this image as it tells the story as you have described. And everything is so colorful! And the faces are so cheery!   Posted: 01/11/2020 09:31:44

Image has good exposure and balance. Colors are attractive and draw my eye to them. I like it.   Posted: 01/12/2020 15:06:43

I like this image for the colorful costumes and smiling faces. the resolution is low but i'm not sure if it's inherent or because it had to be reduced to present here.
My only suggestion is that you may want to consider cropping out the top part since it doesn't really add to the image and focus on the people.   Posted: 01/20/2020 16:27:19

My thoughts were the colors were a little flat. I went into Photoshop adjustments and used levels to add more pop. Also cropped a bit off the top as suggested by Graham.   Posted: 01/23/2020 16:47:41
