Pink Sand Dunes by Kata Zih

October 2019 - Pink Sand Dunes

About the Image(s)

Coral Pink Sand Dunes State Park in Utah, last October. We were waiting for the sunrise... and a storm was coming. There were incredible colors, the sight was amazing but we had to run from the rain. Running in the sand with the complete photographer gear while it is raining and lightning ... well it's unforgettable. And wonderful.

Canon 1DX MkII + Canon EF 24-70mm f/2.8L II USM on 24mm, 1/4sec at f/13, ISO 100

Wonderful image!! Perhaps the sky is a bit bright and kind of attracts the eye. You may want to decrease the exposure a half stop or so on the upper part of the image. Well done!!   Posted: 10/21/2019 18:27:47

I like this image and you had much better lighting than my trip there. I agree with Alan in that the sky (horizon level) is a little too bright. Other than that I would not change a thing.   Posted: 10/25/2019 20:29:28

Exposure and composition are great. My eye wants to get right into the image. For me, the clouds are competing with the colorful sand and sky. Storm clouds make great images but so can the colorful sky and sand. I really like the ripples of color on the right side of sand. I cropped the image. This may or may not be to your liking.   Posted: 10/30/2019 20:57:13
