About the Image(s)

I have very little experience with macro photography (does this qualify as macro?) but when our camera club has an upcoming topic of “Macro” and there is a workshop at a nearby NWR, I thought I better go give it a try. It was a rather windy day so much time was spent waiting for a lull in the swaying to and fro of the flowers before clicking the shutter. I first took a closer up image of this flower (closer to 1:1), but I liked the composition much better when I backed off a bit.

Nikon D810 and 105 f/2.8 macro lens, 1/100 sec @ f/22, ISO 400. This is an uncropped full frame image, processed in Lightroom.

Good DOF and focus on the subject, good colors, interesting subject, good position in the image.   Posted: 07/13/2017 21:03:16

Nice image that is sharp and clear. Back ground blends well and color combinations are right on. Two minor thoughts. Just above the brighter leaf in the lower left there is a dust spot or something (black spot) that needs to be removed. I think I would also remove the light brown area in the upper right of the image. Overall very well done.   Posted: 07/18/2017 10:32:09

Nice image. The depth of field, focus and composition are spot on. In addition to Tom's comment about the black speck, I might try darkening that brighter leaf a little bit so that it doesn't pull attention away from the flower.   Posted: 07/31/2017 10:15:42
