MITZIE THROUGH THE WINDOW by Jean Armstrong

September 2020 - MITZIE THROUGH THE WINDOW

About the Image(s)

Recently I was out in front of my house with my camera and noticed our cat Mitzie watching me. So for fun I took a picture of her through the screen on the window. This was the result. I really like the stark contrast of her in the dark room and her eyes watching me.
I used my Nikon 7100 at an ISO of 400 F 6.3 at 1/2500 se

When I first saw this, I thought it should have something else beside all that blackness but the more I looked at it, the more I liked it. The stark black and white is very striking!   Posted: 09/05/2020 19:43:50

thank You Margaret,
I surprised myself when I was processing the Image. I took it on a whim, Thinking it probably wouldn't work. But I loved the out come and am glad you saw my vision.   Posted: 09/14/2020 13:50:35

The cat's eyes give just the right amount of color. The screen effect works really well for me. However, I wonder what it would be like if the white area was blurred or the dark lines lightened. If you don't have a camera nearby, these moments are lost.   Posted: 09/05/2020 22:00:43

Thank You Lloyd,

What an interesting photo. Love the white accents and the eyes. I keep trying to make out the cat's body so lightening the background might have shown it better. Great Halloween photo!   Posted: 09/06/2020 15:00:55

Thank You Jamie,
I liked the mystery of the cats body.   Posted: 09/14/2020 13:53:08

Nifty shot! The cat's face is great! I wondered how it would look if you cropped it to show only the cat's head, or alternatively to lighten it a little to give a suggestion of the body.

Thank You Mary,
I tried different crops, but this was my favorite.   Posted: 09/14/2020 13:55:29

This is a very cool image. I like how at first, it looks like the cat is out of focus or pixelated. But, once you look at it again, then you can see that it's peering through a screen door. The cat itself has beautiful coloring and is perfect for this shot. Great shot!   Posted: 09/14/2020 09:42:29

Thank You Emily,
I liked the Image of my cat sitting and studying my moves from inside the house. Seemed as if she was wondering what I was up to.   Posted: 09/14/2020 13:57:30
