CARNAC MEGALITHS by Margaret Sprott, APSA

September 2019 - CARNAC MEGALITHS

About the Image(s)

This was taken on our trip to France in June, 2019. We stopped in Carnac on our way from Brittany to Nantes and I was amazed to find henges here. I thought they were only in England.
I increased the exposure slightly and the contrast a lot and fixed the black and white clipping. The greatest effect was when I dehazed it quite a bit.

Interesting photo Margaret. That big rock in the front kind of bothers me. Since it can not be moved, I might try cropping most of the right side of it out and focusing on the ones in the back and the shed. Then you would see the person also.   Posted: 09/02/2019 17:48:05

Oh, my - I never saw the person. Thanks for your comments and I may try that. I guess I was just trying to show the Carnac stones and did not think about anything else.   Posted: 09/02/2019 20:26:42

That huge rock is an absolute downer for me. Had you moved a bit to either side, you probably would have had a much better image. Just as a suggestion, with almost every image I shoot, I make at least five alternatives. I move, I change the aperture, etc. In film days, I worked to support the film and developing. Today it's the cheapest thrill I can get and when I get home, I have more choices to work with than the proverbial "Carter has peanuts". Best habit I ever acquired.   Posted: 09/04/2019 19:00:22

Margart I feel that the big rock in the middle, blocks the whole image. If you crop the picture on the left side of the rock and make it a vertical image it would make a very nice image. The person in the picture doesn't bother me.   Posted: 09/04/2019 19:11:49

I guess you have convinced me that the big rock is a problem. Thanks for the comments and I may try to work on a better image by cropping differently. I may also try to find other images from that area. I find it difficult to find good images when I am in a group at a location for a short time. Will work on that too.   Posted: 09/04/2019 19:54:36
