YOSEMITE by Valerie Fall

September 2019 - YOSEMITE

About the Image(s)

This small natural spring in Yosemite National Park, Fern Spring, is often overlooked when viewing the enormous icons in Yosemite. I always stop to see what is going on with this tiny treasure. Using a slow shutter speed and an ND filter, I was able to slow the water flow. I enjoyed the dappled light in this scene as well as the wet rocks, bright green plants and tranquil pool above the flowing water.

Love the smooth motion in your photo. Makes me want to go there!   Posted: 09/02/2019 17:31:18

I love what you did with the water and the rocks but I'm not sure about that pool in the back. It looks out of focus which I suppose is due to the slow shutter speed. What is there? We were in Yosemite in July and we missed this delightful spot so I guess we must go back. Overall, I love the image!   Posted: 09/02/2019 20:51:22

I do like the motion as well. As to the pool in the back I'm not disturbed that it may be out of focus as the main subject is in the foreground and the softness of the background is not to my knowledge unusable.   Posted: 09/04/2019 18:56:03

This is a lovely photograph. You did a nice job slowing down the water. I think the image may be stronger if you reduced the exposure in the right corner. This bright spot pulls my eye away from the center of the photograph.   Posted: 09/10/2019 08:37:40
