About the Image(s)
This was from an ectachrome slide, scanned with a Canon 9000 scannner, taken with a 400mSigma lens. The slide was very soft and couyld not be enlarged to acceptable sharpness. I always liked the picture and never destroyed it. I AI noise remover and then I sharpened with the ai sharpener at reduced to about 50% effect to minimize disturbing artifacts and then increased sharpness with with its stabdard (non-AI) sharpener. Not too bad, even if not great

The monkeys certainly make a great subject for black and white. I love the contrast in the image and the expression on the monkeys' faces. I can see why you never got rid of it. My only comments would include one you've already noted, which is the softness of the subjects. The other comments would be to note several bright spots in the background.   Posted: 03/13/2023 22:46:47
Hi Albert - I had to laugh at this image. The first thought that entered my mind was a title "Bad hair day times 2" (LOL). I found the expressions and the hair to be hilarious.
I like the subject and I also like your use of DOF to keep the focus on the monkeys. In light of the work you said you did to get this image I think you did a great job. My only suggestion would have been to try to bring out the eyes on the subjects other than that - to my eye very well done. Thank you for sharing it with us.   Posted: 03/14/2023 08:38:57

Albert,
The monkey on the right has pretty in-focus eyes. The one on the left, not so much. Especially the left eye. Did you think about cropping out the monkey on the left? I think the expression of the one on the right is strong enough to make it a solo image, if you so choose.   Posted: 03/15/2023 08:22:58

Hi Al, you have captured a wonderful moment of interaction between the pair with very expressive faces and the wild hair in an exciting composition. I salute your work in transferring the image into digital form. - I agree with Dom that the guy on the right would make a fine portrait also alone.   Posted: 03/15/2023 14:27:44
