About the Image(s)

This was taken with a Nikon D800 and a Nikon 24-120mm lens I twas taken during the cruise from Bergen to the Lofoten Islands in Norway. I used the porthole ledge and a bean bag or folded blanket (I can’t remember which) to dampen any vibration from the boat. The shutter was set to 1/1250. The lens was somewhere in the very short extension and the ISO boosted t about 1250. The brightness of the moon needed to be tone down. Otherwise I increased the blue tone a bit and took several frames. This one was the only one that was acceptably sharp.

An interesting image Albert. It all about the sky but my eye keeps going to the moon: it's more the shapes there, rather than it's brightness. I feel it would be stronger more as a letterbox taking the moon out. I like the mood you've created very much.   Posted: 12/17/2019 12:39:19

This is a very different and interesting image. The moon bother me a bit as well. I would try to just clone out the shape of the moon. Leaving the bright area as if the clouds were heavier. Adding the blue tint is a nice touch although I think a bit overdone.
Overall a very nice image.   Posted: 12/19/2019 13:17:59

Albert,
I like the mood that you created with this image and there is a lot that attracts my attention: the moonlight on the water shows the detail of the water, the silhouetted coast adds mystery and the sky filled with an interesting cloud pattern with the moon high in the sky adds drama. I do see evidence of the high ISO which for me does distract a little. I think using a denoise program and a sharpening program (I use Topaz AI-denoise and AI sharpen) could increase the sharpness and reduce the noise if that is what you want. Thanks for showing this to us. Happy Holidays!

I like this image a lot. I have experimented a number of times with using a cyanotype tint for monochrome without success. From this image, I do not think I tried hard enough. The blue tint makes this image for my eye. I love the sky and the glow of the moon over the water. To my eye it is a wonderful nights-cape and the blue tint gives is a real sense of cold one might expect in the far northern climate. I cannot help but wonder what time of year this was taken.

A great image - thank you for sharing it with us Albert.   Posted: 12/24/2019 19:09:33
