Old Truck by Don Crow

December 2019 - Old Truck

About the Image(s)

This was shot while out with a group of friends. The owner of the truck told us it had been used hauling concrete while building Hover dam. We all ate it up... until one of the group looked him up. Turns out he was the president of the local liars club, which I had never heard of. It was still neat to photograph and meet a real character, the owner.

Shot with Canon 40d, lens 17-85 mm kit lens
f/10 at 1/8 sec ISO 100

I love Old Truck Don! So much character and it really helps having the misty background adding interest. My only suggestion is whether you need as much space to the right? If you crop some out, even some of the flatbed area behind the cap, it will stop Old Truck being too central.   Posted: 12/17/2019 12:32:45

I love the story about the truck almost, ALMOST , as much as the image. Great contrast and composition.. Doesn't get any better to me !   Posted: 12/17/2019 18:34:00

This is a wonderful truck, Don. I really like the sharp focus of the car contrasting with the softness of the mist.
Thanks for a great image.   Posted: 12/17/2019 22:04:46

Don,
This is a great shot of the old truck and the misty-layered background of mist and trees really add to the mysterious mood that you created. I also like the contrast between the sharp foreground and truck with the misty background. My only suggestion is to remove the large weed stalk in the center that overlaps the front fender which I found distracting. Thanks for sharing this one.

I love this image. It's a photo that I wish I had taken. My only suggestion is reduce the contrast of the foreground weeds or darken (or both) the weeds in the foreground.   Posted: 12/20/2019 12:32:57

A really great image Don. What I like most about this image is the truck with the background of the trees in that hazy distance. To my eye this sets up the entire image. I am not sure how much processing you did to this image, but whatever you did worked extremely well for me.

I wish I could come up with a suggestion to make it better (well not really) and I cannot.

A great image and a wall hanger, thank you for sharing it with us Don.   Posted: 12/24/2019 18:52:22
