Two Leaves by Jack Florence Jr

October 2019 - Two Leaves

About the Image(s)

What I liked about this was the positioning of the two leaves, and the little bit of light coming up from the bottom right. I'll appreciate hearing if this minimalist image offers enough interest to you. I'm also thinking it might work better with the two leaves not quite so centered.

Taken as an infrared, f5.6 1/125 35mm

Jack, this is quite beautiful. I might just drop down from the top right hand corner to the beginning of the light on the wood   Posted: 10/14/2019 17:38:03

Jack,
This is a good comparison of textures and forms and works well in monochrome which is well exposed. Yes, for me this type of 'minimalist" image works because there is enough interest all over the image. I also like the different curves that I can see such as those in the wood and how the stems connect the two leaves. To me the placement of the leaves is not an issue and for me it looks good as is since they seem to form a diagonal together with the splotch of light in the lower right corner. I was not able to tell that this was an IR image and would be interested in knowing if this effect could have been created simply by processing a non-IR image.

I like the image. The diagonal shaft of light highlights the leaves nicely. If you are concerned about the leaves being centered I would try cropping off maybe an inch from the left side.
Well done.   Posted: 10/18/2019 12:07:23
