About the Image(s)

This was shot last fall somewhere on the Blue Ridge Parkway in North Carolina. I didn’t think much of it until I converted it to black and white, now I like it. Have to see what you all think of it as well.
It was shot with my favorite lens the Canon 100-400mm at 400mm on a 7d body. Exposure was f/22, 1/200 sec, ISO 400.
Enhanced in Photoshop CC and Silver Efex.

Don,
Very dramatic flower shot ! Great work, did have a black card
as a background ?   Posted: 01/08/2018 12:36:17

I love how clean it is with the black background, and like Darrell am curious as to if you used a card. This can sometimes be done solely in processing but it's a lot more work. It's well composed and technically excellent.   Posted: 01/10/2018 17:27:03

No card was used. The background was in deep shadow. What little green there was pretty much went away in processing. Generally I will not let a background go completely black but this one did.   Posted: 01/10/2018 18:19:32

This is a photo that I wish I had made. The way you captured the tones in the flower is really great. I thin I ight crop away some ofd the black. It is more dead space then I like, but that is purely a subjective response.   Posted: 01/10/2018 20:20:26

The focus in your image is wonderful. I see your aperture was f22. Being an out door shot the lighting is beautiful and is very dramatic, more like a studio shot, to my mind. Thanks for a great image.   Posted: 01/12/2018 13:54:09

Don I have done work like this - white flowers on a black background. It is a look I really like, so I was immediately taken by the shot.

To my eye you did a really wonderful job in the processing. The stark white on black really works for me. The focus, to my eye, is amazing.

Wonderful image, thank you so much for sharing it with us.   Posted: 01/13/2018 13:20:37

Very interesting. Great! Flowers look like deep frozen for electron microscopy. Unreal.   Posted: 01/17/2018 09:51:44
