I am from the Midwest (Chicago) but have lived in many parts of the United States including the Northeast (Boston) Mid Atlantic (Philadelphia), Southeast (Nashville), Northwest (Seattle, Corvallis) and now the West Coast (San Francisco). I first became interested in photography in 1998 when I was spending a year working in Europe (Odense, Denmark) and after returning to the states bought my first Nikon film SLR. In 2002 I was back working again in Europe (Stockholm, Sweden) and having a great time travelling and photographing in my copious free time (5+ weeks vacation/year) ...until Christmas Eve 2003 in Rome when just after visiting St Peter’s Basilica (and getting a great shot atop the Basilica in the late afternoon sun) my camera was stolen from my bag from beneath my arm by a very skilled team of pickpockets working the subways…Upon my return to the USA I ended up buying an inexpensive Samsung Digimax camera as the theft had apparently taken away some of my inspiration. It turned into a lost decade regards photography! In 2015, I bought a Nikon DSLR and in 2016 joined the Millbrae Camera Club which has allowed me to regain my interest and discovered a real passion for photography. This year I became part of the clubs judge committee to invite judges for our monthly competitions. Last month, one of our Judges told me about PSA and now I am a member.

I enjoy all categories of photography, but if I had to choose, my favorite category would be monochrome because it can often turn the ordinary into something quite eye-catching.

My current camera is a Nikon D5500 with either a Tamron 18-400 mm Zoom Tamron 90 mm macro lens. I am using Nik Silver Effex, or, Topaz BW for conversion.
