Orangutan 4 by Cindy Lynch

About the Image(s)

I love zoo photography and especially the primates. Getting eye contact was the key in this image. It was taken inside and through glass. Avoiding glare is a special challenge! I post processed by adjusting the details, contrast and exposure using Camera Raw and Nik Color Efex. Settings: f/9, 1/100 sec., ISO 3600 and 110 mm focal length.

Whoa! What a spectacular and beautifully composed portrait! I spent quite a bit of time examining all the fine details in the face and fur. Everything is perfectly sharp! And, the eyes are amazing! The background is nice and simple. It's hard to believe you shot this through glass. Exquisite! Can't suggest anything to improve it.   Posted: 04/01/2021 07:18:05

I'm fascinated with your photo! The eyes, face and surrounding areas have a great impact. It is an opportunity for a orangutan facial study since it is so well composed and sharp.   Posted: 04/01/2021 10:29:55

This is an extraordinary photograph and makes me realize I should know more about primates. Has your photograph been seen any scientists in one of the regional primate centers? From the standpoint of photography, I cannot offer any suggestions. The catch-lights are impressive!   Posted: 04/15/2021 13:59:41

I have never see an Orangutan that looks quite like this. The beautiful turquoise color on the face, the texture and color in the hair and face, all were so remarkable. Also the composition of the entire head and the upper-torso are just right in the frame. Plus, the expression on the face is perfect. You nailed this, Cindy. Well done!   Posted: 04/18/2021 23:35:06
