About the Image(s)

I took the shot of this charming old schoolhouse in Columbia, IL just as the sun was setting. I opened up the exposure and increased the saturation to capture the beautiful sky colors. I gave the school a red door and cloned in yellow mums by the door. Settings: f/11, 1/100 sec., ISO 100 and 22 mm focal length.

What a timeless image with beautiful lighting and excellent post-processing. Great job cloning out the pole and wires. Nicely cropped to bring more attention to the schoolhouse. The clouds really add drama to the scene. I like that old water pump on the right, too. If this were my image, I might try using the perspective tool to make the building a little less slanting backwards. But, overall, well done!   Posted: 08/02/2020 06:40:52

This little school house is adorable! And you made it more so with the red door and the flowers. The colorful sky just enhances the scene; you caught it at the perfect time: setting sun. Good exposure on the house. I do feel that the house is slanted a bit or maybe it is that the building is on an incline from left to right. That's probably the way it sits but it feels like it needs to be straightened. Great job on this!   Posted: 08/02/2020 12:51:30

Great pic! The composition is excellent with the subject in center right, a bright red door pulls the eye right there. Trees make a nice frame under a perfect sky. Would have to see the image after pulling the building forward or to the right to know if it is worth it. Your usual good work.   Posted: 08/03/2020 08:55:29
