About the Image(s)

Driving in southern Maine, I saw this store on the side of a road and just had to stop and snap a few photos. I took three exposures and merged them in Photomatix. I then opened the image in Camera Raw and adjusted the clarity and contrast. In Photoshop, I adjusted the details and lighting. Settings: f/9, 1/100 sec., ISO 100 and 16 mm focal length.

Wonderful image! Lots of color and detail. Your HDR post-processing was well done. My only comment would be that the orange tractor on the left and the red truck sign on the right draw my attention away from the center of the image. Maybe those two items could be toned down (de-saturated and darkened) a little? Or, possibly a vignette might help.   Posted: 03/02/2020 16:21:12

There is so much to see in this image that your eye keeps moving around. I love the colors and the textures. I agree that you could use a slight vignette for the edges. I am amazed at the exposure you were able to get out of the scene with your post-processing. It would make an interesting puzzle. Great job with the image.   Posted: 03/05/2020 08:23:08

wow, a lot of objects taking my attentions, this might be one of those photos people like, but also not like.
Personally, I prefer the original one, which has the main focal point, and some subdued secondary ones play a balancing role, thus a calm image. Good eye, catch it on the fly, stop and grab a shot!   Posted: 03/11/2020 11:44:23

A lot of things to look a The orange tractor on the left doesn't bother me but the red car sign on line with the roof line does. It pulls my eye away from the rest of the image. The picture brings back memories from the past. I like the picture.   Posted: 03/13/2020 20:58:29

This a beautiful image with a lot of colors and patterns in details. I like the post processing which gives me the feeling of HDR image!.   Posted: 03/24/2020 08:42:46

Your work is a winner - it would have taken first place in a competition at the Schenectady Photographic Society. I have not used HDR myself but I wonder how close a non-HDR version would have come to the image I see here (I assume the original you have submitted is right out of the camera). This is a great image - you should give it a lot of exposure.   Posted: 03/25/2020 09:22:53

Gee, thank you. I haven't entered it into competition yet, but may do so next year.   Posted: 03/25/2020 11:29:35
