About the Image(s)

I was on a Danube River cruise and saw the sun setting against the modern buildings in Vienna; casting a gold light. When I took the shot, it came out dark and not at all what my eye saw. First I opened it in Camera Raw and adjusted the shadows, exposure and clarity sliders. Then I did a little more tweaking with Nik Color Efex - Tonal Contrast, Detail Enhancer and Darken/Lighten Center. Settings: f/5, 1/100, ISO 100 and 35 mm focal length.

You have really fabulous clouds and a great cityscape here, but it looks a bit over processed. My suggestion is to dial it back a bit, so the viewer cannot discern that you have done any post processing.   Posted: 10/03/2019 18:25:59

Another winner, Cindy! It is beautiful; colors, sharpness, sky and one tall building taking us to the sky at the golden-hour. I and my wife will be on the Danube next Sept.   Posted: 10/09/2019 08:37:08

Thanks, Don. We enjoyed the Danube, however, it was last year when the water levels were so low. We had to change ships 3 times and be bussed. We're going to try the Rhine next September.   Posted: 10/10/2019 12:39:04

Wow, this is one wild photo. I think the buildings have a great gold metallic feel to them. The dark clouds really keep our eye on the buildings and bridge.   Posted: 10/09/2019 16:51:02

I agree with Stephan, the image looks too processed. I thought on first glance that it had been edited and processed a bit too enthusiastically with HDR. A striking image, however, that doesn't look like the Vienna I have in mind!   Posted: 10/11/2019 12:28:55

wonderful cloud and sky, rare seen. If anything, I might suggest dial back a bit on the cloud so that it is more align with the subtle env and mood of twilight.   Posted: 10/11/2019 16:42:36
