New Taipei Bridge by Bai Chuang Shyu

March 2019 - New Taipei Bridge

About the Image(s)

The New Taipei city which is next to the city, Taipei city, where I live. There are two rivers separate these two city and thus there are many bridges were built to connect the transportation of these two city. I was attended a local photographic club and we frequently visited the hot spots for night photography. And this location has attracted many photoenthusiasts. The water pond was formed after a heavy raining and produced a nice reflection of the bridge. My Nikon D700 was on tripod with f/4.5, 2 seconds exposure and an ISO of 100. The post processing was done by Viveza2 for adjustment of saturation and light intensity. It was slightly cropped in PhotoShop.

Very nice nightscape with good clarity. Your reflections are great and you have an interesting sky which you caught in the blue hour before it turned black. My only very minor suggestion is to crop a little off the right. Nice job!   Posted: 03/07/2019 12:47:44

A good night landscape with a clear center of interest. I would have tried a severe crop on the right but this could result in putting the bridge tower in the center of the picture, which you may not have wanted. The colorful bridge and its reflection make the image a success.   Posted: 03/08/2019 14:16:02

Hi Charlie: Tanks for your comments. The name of the bridge is "The New Taipei Great Bridge" which connect s the New Taipei city and the Taipei city.   Posted: 03/17/2019 23:06:22

I felt there are two pictures, so I cropped for the most important subject, the bridge. Nice night time capture   Posted: 03/15/2019 16:46:39

Great night shot full of colors.
I lived in Taipei with my wife and kids in 1988-9. Our house was near the National Palace Museum, and I worked at an office at the airport downtown. Where is this bridge relative to those locations?   Posted: 03/26/2019 18:19:40

Hi Stephen: Thank you for your response. The beautiful place you lived is in the north part of Taipei. The New Taipei city is in the west of the Taipei city and separated by a Tamsui river. The New Taipei great bridge is connecting the New Taipei city and Taipei city. Thus it is in the southwest part of where you have ever lived. I roughly estimated about 10 km apart.   Posted: 03/26/2019 22:22:32

Yes, it was so beautiful. We lived about a km past the Museum, on the north side of the road, with our house directly under a great stone mountain, which I never failed to wonder at as I left for work each morning. On top was a Buddhist Monastery. We went once for meditation. The abbot was a woman, and we finished meditation with some meditative walking--unlike the slow meditative walking we were used to, this was fast walking--very unique. Our two years in Taiwan changed our lives in ways that no one back home could understand without experiencing it.   Posted: 03/27/2019 16:56:43
