It’s that time of year when the icy cold makes it easier to take photos inside rather than outside. The challenge I had with this ice in our window is that I did NOT have a dark background. There was a rising sun in the background so I decided to use the bright light from the sun to illuminate the ice on the window. At first I thought the brightness of the sun might overpower the scene, but it has imparted a unique aspect to the photo. What do you think? I used a macro lens and a small aperture so I could increase the depth of field. Cropped the original and tweaked the exposure in Luminar.

Different and nice, something out of nothing type of shot.

I really like this shot. The contrast between warm and cold, and hard lines and soft circles adds drama and interest. I also love the color palette. Posted: 01/27/2018 15:48:06
