About the Image(s)

This is a photo of the Old Jewish Cemetery in Prague, Czech Republic taken in 2006. Canon 20D, EF 10-22@ 10mm; 1/250, f8, ISO 200. I converted the original file to B&W with MacPhun Tonality ck.

The Jewish cemeteries in old Eastern European countries were limited in space and the old kings would not let the Jews acquire more land. The more recently deceased were buried on top of their predecessors, which resulted in the graves becoming unstable and the tombstones falling over.

This image is all about shapes, shadows and emotion. I like the monochrome treatment and it shows just enough detail. I would suggest adding a dark vignette to add to the drama.   Posted: 01/03/2018 10:04:17

Good eye for a significant and unusual photo. Wish I could see more of the writing on the tombstones. Converting to B&W is smart and, as suggested by Cindy, adding the vignette would be a plus.   Posted: 01/03/2018 14:27:38

I agree with Cindy's and Don's comments. Something bothers me about the image - is it too contrasty or has it been oversharpened? Might it be improved by being a bit softer?   Posted: 01/09/2018 09:40:07

For Me it is too much to grab on too. Each stone should be treated with more attention. There is a lot on each marker and they need separation.   Posted: 01/22/2018 09:42:53
