About the Image(s)

This is an old set of 4 images from 2010 shot with my Nikon D300. I have been frustrated with Aurora (newer version still not working) and alignment issues. So I thought I would try Photomatix v6, it has been a long time since I used the software. Overall I am pretty pleased as quite a bit has changed. I used a preset to start, made some adjustments and back into Capture One. Added some contrast, decreased the green, opened in PS for some content aware fill and back to C1 for vignette and export.

The composition is solid and the blend is even. The yellows in the turned trees really strengthen that as a visual leading line. Maybe a bit more contrast? It may have been overcast lighting, but it has that slightly flat feel.   Posted: 04/12/2021 17:22:01

Nice image of the canyon. I once attended a conference given by the Navajo Nation. This is a very nice image giving a good view from the top of the canyon and a nice flow of the river. It appears to be nearing their Autumn which adds to the color. It is overcast and I agree, maybe just adjustment with curves may add some contrast or simply trying contrast. This makes me want to return because I had a 3.3 Fujifilm camera and the image quality was low compared to what you can get today.   Posted: 04/19/2021 22:43:40

I did notice a big difference in the processing when I originally shot this 11 years ago with Photomatix I think.. The 12mp image holds up pretty well with modern processing.   Posted: 04/19/2021 22:51:43
