Payette River Bend by Max Burke, APSA

January 2021 - Payette River Bend

About the Image(s)

The attached image was taken On December 28, 2020 about 60 miles north of Boise at a place few photographers are familiar, called Carbarton. There are some hot springs there and this was taken with the temperature about +5 degrees and the snow mixed with steam makes this site attractive. Behind me where I took this image there was considerable fog and frost particles on all the trees and branches and open fields of beautiful snow at about a 2 feet level. Taken on a tripod with Nikon D500 w/ 17-55mm 2.8 lens, using focal length of 17.
Did a three one-stop image HDR with basic setting of 1/200 at iso 200. This image required just slight adjustments in light and contrast settings primarily using PS raw.

Beautiful image (marked on my map!) and the snow covered rock in the front middle is nicely placed. Not sure what I would change, well done!   Posted: 01/15/2021 11:49:37

I completely agree with Brad. This is very nice and that mini-island in the river is the anchor needed to create the nice depth that you feel in the image. One tiny black area in the upper right corner that should be an easy fix. This one should make a good print.   Posted: 01/16/2021 10:51:30
