About the Image(s)

I had to dig into the archives for this shot from Yosemite National Park from several years ago. It was a six exposures at one stop intervalsCanon 7D and a 24-105 lens. Processed in Aurora 2019 with warm landscape preset. Additional processing in Adobe Camera RAW where I darkend the foreground.

Nice composition. The blend is smooth tonally but a little punchy in the greens. I would be inclined to pull at least some of the blue out of the cliff face. I could see a little in there because of the blue sky, but I think the landscape preset may have pushed the warm highlights / cool shadows a bit too hard.   Posted: 11/11/2020 17:17:22

HI Rick, Upon reviewing your comments I took a second look at my image. I agree the blue shadows are a bit heavy. I also didn't like to tone of the greens. I opened the image in Adobe Camera Raw and put a radial filter on the rocks and warmed them up. I also went into the Color Mixer, Luminance, and dialed down the yellows and pumped up the greens. I think it appears more natural. Thanks for the comments   Posted: 11/12/2020 16:08:27

I like this version better.

My first impression was wow, great composition, but the mountains were too blue.   Posted: 11/29/2020 21:46:46

Your adjustments based on Ricks comments definitely improved the photo. the original was a bit over cooked in the blues and greens. Plus the highlights in those areas were pretty bright. You corrected it very well but picked up a little halo around the trees. Plus you cropped it slightly differently including the reflections from the sky. I think I prefer your original crop.   Posted: 11/23/2020 13:32:28

A lot of suggestions here and I agree with the comments offered. The corrected image by Bill looks much better than the original. The crop on the bottom shows some of the scene not in the original. Never-the-less, this is a nice and well done scene.   Posted: 11/23/2020 22:14:15
