RR Car and Doll by Bob Patrick

September 2020 - RR Car and Doll

About the Image(s)

About 20 miles from home is the town of Easton. At this time it is pretty well dried up. Next to the Saloon (one of only two businesses still alive) sits this abandoned Railroad Car. It has a new occupant, a doll, which looks fresh out of the box. 3 exposures on the D800E at F11. minus 4, no compensation, and plus 2.4. Aurora 18, fair amount of burning in PS 5.1, and cropped.

Bob, Nice exposure showing the shadowed area clearly and the exterior as well. The interior of the old RR car has a good composition. My suggestion would be if you had an angle that still showed the interior well, but moved slightly to show a solid wall of the building in the background it would eliminate the break-up of the composition caused by the TV antenna and stairway. I am going to do this by altering the background to see what happens in this regards.   Posted: 09/11/2020 16:11:13

Interesting subject rendered well. I like Max's idea on eliminating the antenna and stair even if you did it the way he did. The one thing I keep coming back to is the orange object (Mirror of some type?) on the floor and the one sunlight spot just on the frame edge below it. It would be stronger for me without those two things, even if you did it by cropping up from the bottom.   Posted: 09/11/2020 19:19:31
