Ford Body by Bob Patrick

October 2019 - Ford Body

About the Image(s)

This shot was made last week, just before dark. D800e, Sigma 24-105 at F11, ISO 400. 1/80, 1/25, 1/6, and 3/10 sec. Aurora 2018, HDR 2 preset. Tweaked the brightness and contrast a bit in PS5.1.
I had left the road to explore an old residential foundation, which is visible from the road and ran into this old Ford SW Body. I think this is a 1956 Country Sedan. The site held only the car body and some scrap metal from other items.

The blend and tones are smooth and echo the warm lighting that you had. I feel the composition works well with this subject. It looks like a little detail may have been lost on the brightest section of the sky but I don't find that bothersome in this case. Wile the foreground objects are as you found them, I do think that some clean up (at least in post processing) of the things in the lower left corner would be worthwhile.   Posted: 10/09/2019 10:03:49

Another lost bullet tattooed auto. Nicely done with the brighter background and the clarity in your exposure works. Some of the debris sort of helps tell the story of this place, but some good be cleaned up.   Posted: 10/19/2019 22:10:32

I am ok with the debris, adds to the story of the car. Nice composition.. Perhaps a little too warm but that is mostly personal taste. The clouds look funky which can happen with HDR.   Posted: 10/20/2019 16:40:42

I love the car and the angle and the life after humans theme! The blend on the car and the grasses are well done. The more I look at the car and scattered pieces the more I love it.

I think that the sky (bright and HDR-y) and mountains (grainy and color cast) could be re-processed. My first thought was to crop them out, but it seems like that affects the feel on the image. An old car reflecting on the sunset of its life, reminiscing about days when it was in pristine shape...   Posted: 10/30/2019 00:54:26
