About the Image(s)

This leaf was taken January 2021 on a camera club field trip. All I saw was the lines. I thought I would take my black brush and outline every line. I hoped it would make the image pop. It took a long time but I put some music on and just started painting. I also put a texture in the background. Please give me some feedback.

Well Linda talk about making a silk purse out of a sows ear! You have completely transformed a dead leaf on the sidewalk into a work of art. I think your efforts in painting on the leaf were well rewarded. I like the texture and dimension of the leaf, it looks like you brought it back to life. Your textured background, in my opinion, sets this off perfectly. The colors you have chosen harmonize well and enhance the leaf and I feel the variation in shades give your image depth, so much so that I feel I could pick it up and hold it in my hand.   Posted: 02/02/2021 09:33:38

This is awesome! I love taking leaf photos, in fact that may be what I post for next month. I really appreciate the effort thrown in to enhance the line work on the image to give it a much more detailed and artistic look. The colors are great as well.   Posted: 02/10/2021 10:57:23

This looks like a beautiful vermeil piece of jewelry! I know that you enjoy strong colors, and if that is your inclination, I would change the position of the leaf back to the original and tone down the background. I feel the background is competing with the subject.

Agree with the above. You made an artistic transformation, my goal. The background is bright as Lane is pointing out but in this case my eyes are drawn from the sparkly ground to the darker sharp leave. Maybe you could graduate the brightness in the right upper corner behind the leaf down slightly but not much.   Posted: 02/11/2021 18:18:22

Interesting detail and color in the leaf. Much different than the original color. I feel this leaf is overwhelmed by the background. The background is so much brighter. I would suggest keeping so form of the original brown leaf and using a background that is darker.   Posted: 02/24/2021 16:02:17
