What a beautiful landscape Lane. I think this has it all. You have foreground, mid and background elements that blend together quite well. I feel the leading line of trees taking my eye to the burst of sun is perfectly offset by the flock of birds soaring on the right. Nice balance and in my opinion the color harmony is so soft and gentle it gives off a sense of peace and tranquility. Posted: 01/05/2021 10:01:53

This is a lovely pastoral in that it depicts life in an idealized manner. The water slowly leads your eye through the image. The colors are soft and relaxing. The ripples and the star burst are great! The depth of field concerns me. The focus seems quite soft in the background. This can usually be corrected by focusing on something about 100 feet into the image. Posted: 01/08/2021 18:00:11
Yes, Mike, as the maker, I chose f/8 because I wanted the back to fall off. In my mind this is the way I saw it and the human I would see it. I wanted to convey the beauty the marsh , the grasses, the gulls calling and the serenity of the moment.I could have used a long exposure to smooth out the water. For me, I made the decision of two composition elements, not to have sharpness front to back and not to use a slow shutter speed to make the water silky. Posted: 01/10/2021 19:27:11

Beautiful and relaxing landscape. Agree it has everything and everything well placed. The Sun and gentle reflection on the water, the birds in the right spot and the almost Y shaped water defining the composition. I do love this photo, Lane. Posted: 01/13/2021 13:24:34
