About the Image(s)

Sittin in the yard I saw this Grackle. It Seemed expressive to me.

Shot with Canon 6D
ISO 400
70-200 lens with 1.4 teleconverter 280 mm
It was shot hand held 1/60 sec f 9

Opened in Lightroom.

Cropped in Photoshop and used masks to separate Grackle from the background. I used Focus Magic. I then blurred the portion of the photo not involving the bird and used a gradient tool to put in an artificial Depth of field.

Good capture! Excellent depth of field. I didn't know grackles had any color other than black! Seems he is angry. I hate grackles. They are a problem here is Arizona. They kill the young of other birds especially the quail.   Posted: 06/10/2020 18:20:51

Thanks Mark

I dislike them too. The look nasty. They look Like freeloaders. I did not know what they did, but was surprised about the iridescent blue that came through.   Posted: 06/12/2020 17:57:55

Nice catch of this guy posturing and calling. I like the fact that you caught him puffed up. He must be calling for a mate. A busy background nicely de-focused to bring attention to the subject. I think I might like to see the edges burned a bit to focus even more on the bird, but that is just a matter of preference.   Posted: 06/12/2020 20:43:50

Nice capture of an annoying bird. Perhaps you might want to clean up his mess on the post.   Posted: 06/12/2020 21:57:35

nice posing from the bird where he should be in a modeling show :)
I would recommend to add little more sharpens to the eye to give more power for the overall look.   Posted: 06/17/2020 10:20:51

I love this image. I would do anything to the subject, the bird. But, I would clean up the background. Clon out the limbs and the large spot to the right bottom. Great detail in the feathers and in the eye.   Posted: 06/25/2020 11:49:27
