About the Image(s)

We recently spent a few days in Ayacucho, which is in the south central highlands at about 8,800ft above sea level. This time of year Lima is cold and very humid, so a break to a very dry and warm climate is always welcome.
The main square, Plaza de Armas, is also the historical centre of the town. The old houses have been largely preserved. The painter was part of a live exhibition of watercolour paintings in a cultural centre of one of the universities in one of those houses. The artists were working on the 2nd floor terrace overlooking the main courtyard.
EOS M3, 18-55 at 53mm, ISO320, f5.6, 1/160. I cropped the image in LR Classic then went into Photoshop to clone out the bottle and a few marks on the wall. Back in LR Classic I increased contrast, shadows and texture and reduced highlights.

The painting shows a corner of the main square and the cathedral.   Posted: 09/03/2019 14:31:38

I feel like this is a good storytelling image. I like the men's arm being used as a leading line. The colors are very beautiful. Very interesting image. The only thing I may change is to crop some of the top. The white background is a little distracting.   Posted: 09/12/2019 22:25:00

Thanks Linda, I was wondering about doing that. I'm not sure if it will feel a little too compressed.   Posted: 09/19/2019 09:07:16

This is a wonderful image and certainly tells the story. I like the soft colors. The composition is good and don't think you could do much else to improve it.   Posted: 09/19/2019 10:11:19

I love the image, focus intensity of this man's attention to his art and looking over his shoulder. I would only suggest some vignetting or burning of the background that may distract from the resonance between the artist's focus ant the artwork. I made a quick adjust to try and help with this.

All else looks great.   Posted: 09/20/2019 16:52:43

Well we are part of this image! Looking over his right shoulder and watching the creative process. I like the crop.   Posted: 09/22/2019 16:39:44
