February 2019 - Rodeo

About the Image(s)

January in New Zealand is rodeo season. I don’t usually attend as I’m an animal lover and don’t necessarily agree with the whole rodeo idea but was dragged along by a girlfriend. I took this shot with my Canon 700D, with a 18-135mm lens. My settings were ISO 200, F/5.6, 1/1600 sec. I adjusted the white balance, shadows and highlights, blacks and whites in LR. A little cropping, and that’s about it. I look forward to hearing what you all think. Have a good February everyone.

Great action and good storytelling image. I changed the white balance that showed more color in the image. If you have the image with the man in the green shirt to the right not cropped out, I think it would be better than to have half of the man showing. Love the expression on all the men's faces in the background.   Posted: 02/08/2019 16:58:23

Love this image. The expressions on the men are fantastic and you certainly got the moment! I like the desaturated colors, it looks hot and dusty.Good job.   Posted: 02/09/2019 21:20:21

Spot on! Lot of action! The reaction of the three guys in back is great!   Posted: 02/18/2019 17:01:48

I wouldn't change anything. The timing is perfect, the cropping works well and the colours bring out the textures and feel of the dust and excitement.   Posted: 02/19/2019 08:43:27
