Coaches Exempt by Toni Caldwell

January 2019 - Coaches Exempt

About the Image(s)

Happy New Year Everyone. My apologies for not commenting on your images last month, but despite trying could not gain internet access while away. This was taken with my Canon EOS 700D with a 35-70mm lens. 1/160, F11, ISO 100. I played with blacks and whites, shadows and highlights, a little cropping and played with colours and saturation in a few of the Nik Collection editing programs. Last year I travelled as Manager to the North Shore in Auckland for the Southern Under 18 Mens Hockey Team to attend a national tournament. My two boys were honoured to be selected for this team. After each game we drove the 15 lads to the beach where they were required by their Coaches to stand in the water for 15 minutes, they were then put into hot pools. Process repeated twice. Apparently the cold, hot, cold, hot assists in muscle repair. It was coming towards the end of our winter, the water was freezing, and they weren’t particularly happy, but knew what had to be done. The Coaches were exempt and stood checking their phones and checking the time while being hurled with smart comments from the water.

Does an image get any better than this? All I can say is WOW! This is excellent on so many levels. Composition is dead on! Reflections are great. What a story this tells! My eye travels down left of image and then directly to those in the water. Well done!   Posted: 01/07/2019 16:32:15
