About the Image(s)

El Bosque Olivar is an olive grove in the centre of Lima. It started with 3 olive saplings brought from Europe in the 16th Century, there are now over 1600 trees remaining. I wanted to show the original layout that is still preserved and include the seat and lamp, then these 2 sat down and started to have a conversation - thank you!
EOS M3, EF-M 18-55 at 55mm, ISO100, f11, 1/30. All processed in LR Classic using 3 gradient filters - one over each face and one to tone down the lighter grass in front of the men.

At First I thought the two men were the subjects. I read the description and saw the subject is the Olive Grove. I like the leading lines and the contrast from the trees and the green grass. I did make an image suggestion. I used HDR in Niks Software to bring out the shadows. I used levels in Photoshop and did a little cloning on some spots on the grass. I also cropped the image a little. Great Storytelling image.   Posted: 10/13/2018 18:47:11

Many thanks Linda, that is the bit that is missing!   Posted: 10/28/2018 19:59:19

I like the increased tonal range with NIK. Funny, I had the same thought for Lane's image. Nice tunnel leading the relaxed conversation with the men on the park bench. The trees leading to the figure create an already relaxed feeling.

The shapes and textures on the trees are amazing. My eye goes to the men on the bench and then gets lost in the brightness. Linda's post helps. ( I would love to shoot through that whole in the tree!)   Posted: 10/27/2018 09:06:47

Mike, I agree with the above comments about the leading lines, they are great and lead the eye directly to the two men. Linda's suggestions on the shadows do improve the image.   Posted: 10/31/2018 14:18:46
