About the Image(s)

This is the second Daffodil shot in my ongoing series on "Ages of Flowers". This is a focus stack shot at f/2.8 and only the images with the Daffodil bud or the associated leaves in focus were used in constructing the image. Also ongoing are series on Oak Leaf Hydrangia, Rosebud, and Hosta Lilly. Instead of stretching out the presentation of these shots for several years, I may just post them online and provide a link here. My workflow for this kind of shot is to shoot with my Canon R5 using the 100 mm f/2.8 macro, to convert the raw files to tiff using Canon's DPP4 (the final image quality is better this way rather than using Helicon to convert and stack), use the tiff files as input to Helicon for stacking (While the raw conversions are slow, about 30 seconds each, Helicon processes 50 tif files in about 30 seconds.) I then edit the stacked image using the very powerful, but free program Picture Window Pro 8 (from Digital Light and Color).

Well done. The lighting is effective and brings out the texture in the leaves. Background is very complimentary and the image is well composed. I like the blue green colors. Overall image is very pleasing.   Posted: 05/03/2022 12:38:33

Very nice image, sharp, the brown tips on the leaves set off the green on the leaves. Blurring the background, makes your eyes go directly to the leaves. Good job.   Posted: 05/03/2022 14:01:08

Asa documentary the shot is great. As a still life it is not particularly pleasing.   Posted: 05/04/2022 08:30:13

I agree this is well done. I especially like the background for this image. Sometimes I try a digital frame (Topaz) to see how it would look matted and framed. I like it.   Posted: 05/04/2022 14:15:45

Framing does enhance the image. Thank you for raising this possibility. Lately when I make a large print, I'm using the hangers described at https://posterhanger.com/pages/posterhanger-by-jorgen-moller
as these are quick and easy to use and look quite good.   Posted: 05/06/2022 13:38:02

Nicely done. I like how my eyes immediately go to the bud and then the leaves with the colored tips framing this bud. I like the colors and the sharpness in the over all image. The frame that Dorinda suggests in my opinion looks really nice as well.   Posted: 05/11/2022 20:49:31

This is another excellent technical photograph.
I might try the poster hanger.   Posted: 05/31/2022 22:57:35
